AUSTIN M SMITH

Austin Smith joined Patterson Real Estate Advisory Group in fall 2016 and currently serves as the Market Director in Patterson’s Charlotte office.  With a focus on capital placement, Austin has been directly involved in the closing of over 85 transactions encompassing $3.5 billion in total volume, procuring joint venture equity, co-GP equity, senior debt, and preferred equity/mezzanine debt. His experience ranges across numerous asset classes including residential uses (multifamily, student housing, build-to-rent, condominiums, and active adult), industrial, retail, office, hospitality, and raw land. Additionally, Austin has also been involved in a number of Patterson’s advisory assignments, assisting clients with strategic planning and comprehensive financial analysis.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Prior to joining Patterson, Austin was with JPMorgan’s Real Estate Banking group, providing balance sheet loans to institutional real estate developers, owners, and investors. While at JPMorgan, Austin focused on business development and credit analysis, underwriting over $5.0 billion of loan opportunities and closing over $1.4 billion in loan commitments. Prior to JPMorgan, Austin worked with GE Capital Real Estate in Atlanta supporting the Southeast debt originations team.
