AUSTIN M SMITH

Austin joined Patterson Real Estate Advisory Group in fall 2016 and currently serves as a Managing Director, leading Patterson’s operations in North Carolina.  With a focus on sourcing and processing capital placement assignments, Austin has been directly involved in the closing of over 110 transactions, encompassing $4.5 billion in project volume and $3 billion in direct placement across both equity and debt. His experience ranges across numerous asset classes including all types of residential product, industrial, office, hospitality, land, and retail. Additionally, Austin has been involved in assisting universities, family offices, and developers/owners with strategic consultation and advisory services.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Prior to joining Patterson, Austin was with JPMorgan’s Real Estate Banking group, providing balance sheet loans to institutional real estate developers, owners, and investors. While at JPMorgan, Austin focused on business development and credit analysis, underwriting over $5.0 billion of loan opportunities and closing nearly $1.5 billion in loan commitments. Prior to JPMorgan, Austin worked with GE Capital Real Estate in Atlanta supporting the Southeast debt originations team.
